DANNY SAYS is a documentary on the life and times of Danny Fields. Since 1966, Danny Fields has played a pivotal role in music and “culture” of the late 20th century: working for The Doors, Cream, Lou Reed, Nico, Judy Collins and managing groundbreaking artists like The Stooges, The MC5 and The Ramones. DANNY SAYS follows Fields from Phi Beta Kappa whiz-kid, to Harvard Law dropout, to the Warhol Silver Factory, to Director of Publicity at Elektra Records, to “punk pioneer” and beyond. Danny’s taste and opinion, once deemed defiant and radical, has turned out to have been prescient. DANNY SAYS is a story of marginal turning mainstream, avant-garde turning prophetic, as Fields looks to the next generation.

Wild Combination is director Matt Wolf’s visually absorbing portrait of the seminal avant-garde composer, singer-songwriter, cellist, and disco producer Arthur Russell. Before his untimely death from AIDS in 1992, Arthur prolifically created music that spanned both pop and the transcendent possibilities of abstract art. Now, over fifteen years since his passing, Arthur’s work is finally finding its audience. Wolf incorporates rare archival footage and commentary from Arthur’s family, friends, and closest collaborators—including Philip Glass and Allen Ginsberg—to tell this poignant and important story.

The Museum of Interesting Things takes you back to the beginning of music film history! The first music videos were Soundies on 16mm film. Come virtually view them, as well as items from a vast collection of musical antiques from all eras of history. Vintage music players will be demonstrated and played. Maybe you’re home a lot more, and that old junker in the backyard you keep seeing through the window is starting to get under your skin. Well, maybe now is the time to donate it to WFMU and get it off of your hands! The CARS folks have assured us that they are taking all necessary precautions to ensure your safety during pick-up of the vehicle, so get rid of that old heap today and help WFMU at the same time.
